Lorena Canals got her inspiration for this collection by the culture of the Hopi Indians, the oldest native tribe of North America. Everything has a soul in the philosophy of the Hopi Tribe, also trees and rocks for example. Faith in the living nature is deeply rooted in early Americn cultures and is reflected in their art and craftsmanship. Lorena Canals is also a true artist. She translates ancient symbols and patterns to a wonderful collection of round and ractangular woollen rugs, carpets and poufs that create a positive and a slightly spiritual atmosphere.
The Hopi Collection has a cosy, bohemian chic ambience, both by the colours that are used and the patterns; for example the ‘sloppy’ details like the uneven fringes. All washable woollen rugs by Lorena Canals are handcrafted, but in this collection it’s most obvious. There are lots of variations in pile height, therefore having lots of different structures. The simple but effective weaving techniques result in an artisanal, playful series of vintage craftsmanship. In the colours you can see a reflection of the Indian traditions, from coral red in Chinook to the sand and earth colours in Bannock. Lorena Canals made a practical, washable and stylish collection for your home interior based on the traditional culture of the Hopi Tribe.
